Coastal
Locations
Here we have a couple (so far) of pictures
of some very good rock fishing venues, these can be VERY steep and dangerous so wear the
correct foot wear and ALWAYS tell someone where you are going and what time they should
expect you to return, and never go alone.

Just to the south of Douglas is Marine Drive, here you
can fish in deep water within casting distance. Most species can be caught here, but all
you will need is a spinning rod and some sandeels. Use a float set to twenty to thirty
feet and you will have some good sport. Remember, BE CAREFUL. |
 |
Port Erin from Bradda Glen car park, here you can see
the beach top spot for flounder and plaice. Use lugworm fished hard on the bottom for some
top sport. |
 |
Again another picture of Port Erin, this time looking
towards the old breakwater. If you want to catch a conger this is the place to try, use a
fillet of herring or similar and a strong rod, uptide or boat rod will do. Also make sure
you have plenty of tackle as you will lose a lot. |

|
Port St Mary breakwater, home of the lazy fisherman,
well, atleast you can sit in your car if it rains! A lot of fish can be caught here
including wrasse, pollock, coalfish and conger. Most methods work but the most productive
is floatfishing a small sandeel for coalfish, pollock and mullet. |

|
This time its a picture taken near to the RNLI station,
as you can see there is a lot of weed, and a lot of mullet. Say no more!! |

|
Peel Breakwater, the mackerel capital of the world.
Most people spin with a sandeel and catch, this year I am taking my flyrod for a bit of
sport. |

|
Peel again, this time looking along the back wall. The
fish tend to appear from May and stay through the summer. Look out for the seals, there
seems to be more every year. |
