Ny
Fennee are a Manx Dance group founded in 1980. They were closely involved
with the seminal music group Mactullagh Vannin and took part not only in
the local Yn
Chruinnaght but were invited to display at many festivals
in the Celtic world. After a short period of rest and recuperation they
went forward under the leadership of Juan Garret who has carried on the
Ny Fennee ethos of evolving traditional dances along new lines.
Ny
Fennee,"The Heroes" in manks gaelic, are a group of
(mostly) young people aged from Hollie (10) to Mike (best described as
young at heart!).
The
group are based in the North of the Island at Ramsey and rely heavily
on Ramsey Grammar School for new talent as older members
frequently depart for higher education.
Ny
Fennee practice on Wednesday night at Ballacloan Football Club- if
you are interested please mail us below for details.
Apart from regular appearances
at Yn Chruinnaght, the local celtic gathering, Ny Fennee perform
demonstrations for Civic occasions, Fairs, and many other island
events. The group always try to make at least one overseas festival
each year the most recent being Lorient 2003 (Brittany)
